Objectives

By the end of the presentation, participants will be able to:

  • Describe existing data regarding breastfeeding disparities among mothers of infants with CHD.

  • Evaluate structures that adversely impact the experiences of mothers who give birth to CHD infants.

  • Discuss recommendations to address the intersection between racism and cardiac care practices that interrupt breastfeeding efforts.

  • RN: BreastfeedLA is an approved provider by the California Board of Registered Nursing. This course offers 1.0 contact hours of continuing education. BreastfeedLA’s provider number is CEP 16435. Licensee must maintain certificate for a period of four years.

  • IBCLC: BreastfeedLA has submitted an application for Continuing Education Recognition Points (CERSPS) to the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners.

  • RDs & OTs: Maintain a copy of the agenda and certificate for CPEs for Professional Development Portfolio.
