Objectives

By the end of the presentation, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize how physiological, psychological, and cultural factors connect perinatal mental health and infant feeding challenges.

  • Identify evidence-based strategies that integrate mental health and lactation support in both clinical and community settings.

  • Practice client-centered communication skills to support informed decision-making, especially when navigating supplementing, conflicting advice, or emotional overwhelm.

Continuing Education

  • RN: BreastfeedLA is an approved provider by the California Board of Registered Nursing. This course offers 2.0 contact hours of continuing education. BreastfeedLA’s provider number is CEP 16435. Licensee must maintain certificate for a period of four years.

  • IBCLC: BreastfeedLA has submitted an application for Continuing Education Recognition Points (CERPS) to the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners.

  • RDs & OTs: Maintain a copy of the agenda and certificate for CPEs for Professional Development Portfolio.
