Supporting Queer and Trans Parents In Their Lactation Goals featuring Liam Kali
How we feed our babies is but one aspect of parenting. Lactation and chest/breastfeeding are intensely embodied experiences that are deeply impacted by one’s gender identity. Ultimately, each individual should be supported in their own personal lactation goals, with the highest priorities being a baby that is adequately nourished and parents and babies who are attaching securely to one another. Please join BreastfeedLA as we present, 'Supporting Queer and Trans Parents in their Lactation Goals', a webinar recording features Liam Kali, Licensed Midwife. This workshop explores the impact of queer and trans identity on lactation experiences and goals, including lactation induction in any body, chest feeding after masculinization surgery, and co-nursing. Licensed Midwife Liam Kali (they/them) has dedicated their career to improving the lives of LGBTQ+ families having babies. Over the past 25 years, Liam’s work has touched countless queer and trans parents, both in private practice as a health care provider and as a strong advocate within the childbirth professions, where Liam has steadfastly pushed the needle forward towards gender inclusivity in perinatal care. Liam is a skilled clinician who utilizes an integrated approach, providing fertility and pregnancy care while nurturing the emotional and relational aspects of the transition to parenthood.
